Born in Washington, D.C., with her family hailing from Haiti, Tara started performing at the age of 3 in Lome, Togo. She fell in love with the costumes, the lights and of course the exhilaration as soon as she hit the stage. When she moved back to the United States, she trained at various renowned institutions, including: Jones/Haywood Youth Ballet, Corvino Ballet, Ailey School. After receiving her Bachelors of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, she had the opportunity to perform works by Robert Battle, Paul Taylor, Francesca Harper, and performed with vocal artist Pharrell Williams.
Although her first love was dance, Tara has been diligently honing her acting and singing. She received her training from the Stella Adler Studio, vocal coach Boris Buriev, and now the world renowned Susan Batson Acting Studio. Tara has been featured in film including Bolden! (King Bolden) and Before I Disappear (Dear Vista). She appeared as a Co-Star in “The Blacklist” (NBC) and “Blogger Girls” (MTV). Tara recently made her Off-Broadway debut in The Liquid Plain (Signature Theater) written by Naomi Wallace, directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah. You may also have seen her in various national ad campaigns for the New York Stock Exchange, Pantene ProV, Carol’s Daughter, Polo Ralph Lauren, among others. It’s been through her acting that Tara has found her true artist, feverishly finding new ways in which to express, speak, and embody. Tara is incredibly grateful for being able to pursue her art.
